Poland’s Aleksandra Mirosław has won gold at the World Speed Climbing Championships, setting a new world record of 6.03 seconds against China’s Deng Lijua. The 31-year-old had already signaled strong form in qualifying with a 6.083-second run at the event in Seoul, South Korea.
But she then powered through to surpass her previous world record of 6.06 seconds set at the 2024 Olympics where she shot to international fame with her electrifying performance to take gold. Her teammate, Olympic bronze medalist Natalia Kałucka, was knocked out at the quarter final stage.
