Trade between Kazakhstan and China reached US$30.68 billion in the first eight months of 2025, marking a 5.7% year-on-year increase, according to newly released customs data. From January to August, Chinese exports to Kazakhstan amounted to US$19.4 billion, up 6.9% compared to the same period last year, while imports from Kazakhstan rose by 3.9% to US$11.28 billion.
Overall trade turnover expanded by 6.8% compared with 2024, continuing the steady upward trend in bilateral economic relations. In 2024, trade volume between the two neighbours totalled US$43.82 billion, representing a 6.8% growth on the previous year. Observers note that Kazakhstan’s growing role as a key regional hub for energy resources, transport, and logistics has positioned it as a crucial partner for China.
At the same time, China remains an important source of industrial equipment, consumer goods, and technology for Kazakhstan, ensuring balanced and mutually beneficial trade flows.
