Firefighters responded quickly to the fire at the Norwegian oil and gas refinery in Mongstad.

Local authorities evacuated the area because of a fire in an electrical substation.

There were no injuries during the incident.

An electrical substation at the Mongstad refinery in Norway caught fire Friday, forcing an evacuation. Local authorities confirmed the incident and said no one was injured. Firefighters from the local fire department and personnel from Equinor, the operator of the refinery, quickly responded to the situation.

Equinor reported that smoke had been observed at the facility and assured the public that emergency responders were actively working to fight the fire.

Processing 226,000 barrels of crude oil per day in Mongstad, Located on the west coast of Norway, Mongstad is a major refining center, processing approximately 226,000 barrels of crude oil daily, according to Equinor’s most recent annual report.
