Egypt, Russia Discuss Advancing Mega Joint Projects, Boosting Direct Flights

Egypt and Russia held high-level talks on Friday aimed at advancing major joint projects and boosting tourism, as the two sides reaffirmed their strategic partnership and discussed regional and international developments.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Cairo. The ministers emphasized the importance of continuing joint efforts to push forward ongoing cooperation projects, including the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant and the Russian industrial zone within the Suez Canal Economic Zone.

The talks underlined the importance of boosting Russian investment in Egypt and expanding collaboration in tourism by increasing direct flights between the two nations. Abdelatty presented promising investment opportunities in Egypt, particularly under initiatives to localize industry and transfer technology. He stressed the country’s favorable environment for foreign investors, especially in energy, tourism, transport, and logistics sectors.

Lavrov conveyed greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, praising Egypt’s role in promoting regional peace, security, and stability. He underscored the importance of ongoing consultations and coordination on issues of shared interest and expressed hope for strengthened partnership and cooperation to serve the interests and aspirations of both countries.
