Egyptians Vote for Second Consecutive day in Phase 2 Runoff of House Elections

Polling stations began receiving voters as part of the runoff of the phase 2 of the 2025 House of Representatives elections taking place on Wednesday and Thursday, December 17 and 18, in accordance with the decision of the National Elections Authority. This morning, Judge Ahmed Bendary, Director of the Executive Body of the National Elections Authority, announced the start of the second and final day of runoff voting in the second phase of the 2025 House of Representatives elections.

Bendary called on citizens to actively participate in the electoral process, stressing that voting is both a right and a national responsibility. He emphasized that building the future begins with conscious and free participation in choosing representatives. He also expressed particular confidence in Egyptian women, praising their consistent leadership in electoral participation and their strong awareness of national issues, which he said reflects a commitment to development and progress. He further noted that the runoff elections involve 101 seats, contested by 202 candidates across 55 constituencies, with official results scheduled to be announced on December 25.

On Wednesday, the National Elections Authority, headed by Judge Hazem Badawi, Vice President of the Court of Cassation, announced the start of the first day of the runoff elections for the second phase of the 2025 House of Representatives elections within Egypt. The National Elections Authority had previously confirmed that 40 candidates, four independents and 36 party-affiliated, secured seats during the first round of the Phase 2 of the elections.

The second phase covered 13 governorates: Cairo, Qalyubia, Dakahlia, Menoufia, Gharbia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Sharqia, Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, North Sinai, and South Sinai. Meanwhile, Security forces intensified their presence on Thursday around polling stations in several governorates to ensure the electoral process proceeds safely and smoothly. Police officers are assisting elderly and ill voters, providing the necessary support to help them cast their ballots.
