Brazil has achieved a historic milestone in peanut exports, shipping 180,000 tons to international markets, reports Band News TV, a partner of TV BRICS. With an annual production of around one million tons for confectionery and oil, Brazil has secured its position as the world’s sixth-largest exporter of high-quality peanuts. The main destinations were Russia, China, and Algeria.
Sao Paulo stands out as the leading peanut-producing state, accounting for 86% of national output and holding the top spot in exports. The report highlighted that the state’s dominance is due to its developed agricultural infrastructure and extensive experience in the sector. According to data from the Institute of Agricultural Economics (IEA), Sao Paulo produces more than 700,000 tons of peanuts each year. The municipalities of Tupa, Marilia and Jaboticabal are the state’s main production hubs.
