The Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) announced the launch of the second edition of the Abu Dhabi International Basketball Championship 2025. Organized by Al Wahda Club in cooperation with Global Active Sports and under the supervision of the UAE Basketball Federation, the tournament will run from September 29 to October 5 at the Al Jazira Club’s gymnasium.
Eight clubs are participating in the tournament: Al Wahda, Al Dhafra, Sharjah, the league champions, Champville (Lebanon), TNT, the runner-up of the Professional League (Philippines), Astana, the league champions (Kazakhstan), and Al Qurain (Kuwait). Abdullah Salem Al Junaibi, Chairman of the tournament’s organizing committee, confirmed that preparations are underway to host a unique edition of the tournament, noting that it is a great opportunity for clubs to seriously prepare for next season’s competitions.
He said: “We welcome all teams from the capital, Abu Dhabi, to participate in this international tournament. Al Wahda Club is accustomed to organizing major tournaments featuring strong and established clubs across the Arab world.” He pointed out that the tournament is an opportunity to strengthen sporting relations with participating clubs from Lebanon, Kuwait, the Philippines, and Kazakhstan.
According to the tournament’s rules, the eight teams will be divided into two groups. The first group includes Al Riyadi Beirut, TNT Philippines, Sharjah, and Al Dhafra, while the second group includes Al Wahda, Astana, Champville, and Al Qurain. Each team will play three matches in the first round. The first and second place teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, leading up to the final match that will determine the champion of the second edition of the tournament.
