As part of its ambitious goal to become a global sporting powerhouse by 2035, China is implementing a comprehensive strategy to promote greater public participation in sports and stimulate consumption within the sports-related industries. This is reported by China Daily, a partner of TV BRICS. Under new development guidelines recently issued, the country aims to cultivate globally influential sports enterprises and propel the total scale of its sports industry by 2030.
The guidelines, which outline 20 specific measures across six key areas, emphasise that diversifying and expanding the number of sporting events at both the amateur and elite levels is crucial for driving consumption and generating greater market value within the sector. To this end, the country has scheduled over 600 international sporting events and approximately 190 national championship matches at all levels throughout the current year.
Specific initiatives outlined in the guidelines include the development of up to 100 outdoor sports bases by 2030. These facilities will introduce activities such as hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing to national parks, tourist destinations, and rural scenic areas, aiming to attract more visitors. The initiative will receive support from governmental bodies, facilitating the outdoor sports project through public funding, preferential tax policies, and infrastructure upgrades.
