Head of State-Sultan of Oman Discuss Bilateral Relations, Regional Developments in Salalah

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, may God protect him, discussed with his brother, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman, the fraternal relations and various aspects of cooperation and joint work between the two countries, and ways to enhance them to serve their mutual interests and contribute to achieving their aspirations for further progress and development. This came during His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq’s reception today of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his accompanying delegation, as part of His Highness’s fraternal visit to the Sultanate.

His Majesty the Sultan welcomed His Highness the President of the State – during the meeting that took place at Qasr Al Hosn in Salalah – where they exchanged friendly talks that reflect the depth of the historical relations and the solid fraternal ties that unite the leadership of the two countries and their brotherly peoples. The two sides reviewed the bilateral relations and the qualitative development they are witnessing in various fields, stressing their common keenness to continue strengthening their cooperation and pushing it towards broader horizons for the benefit of their people.

The meeting also touched on the developments taking place in the region, most notably the Israeli aggression on the territory of the sisterly State of Qatar. His Highness the President of the State and His Majesty the Sultan of Oman reiterated the two countries’ condemnation of this aggression, affirming their solidarity with Qatar and supporting it in all measures it takes to protect its security, sovereignty and the safety of its citizens. The two sides stressed that the Israeli attacks on the State of Qatar represent a violation of the sovereignty of states, a breach of international law and a serious threat to regional security and stability.

The two sides also reviewed the progress of joint Gulf action, stressing the two countries’ keenness to strengthen the bonds of Gulf integration and support everything that would enhance the progress of the Gulf Cooperation Council, deepen the bonds of fraternal cooperation between its countries, and achieve the aspirations and hopes of its peoples for progress and prosperity. They also discussed a number of regional and international issues of common interest and exchanged views on them.

During the meeting, His Highness the President of the State affirmed that the UAE and the Sultanate of Oman are linked by deep historical fraternal relations, not only at the political and economic levels, but also at the social and cultural levels. His Highness pointed out that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sultan Qaboos bin Said played a fundamental and historic role in consolidating brotherhood and love between the two countries and brotherly peoples. We continue this approach, and the Emirati-Omani relations will always remain a model of understanding, mutual respect and cooperation for the good and prosperity of our two countries and the region.

His Highness also expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Majesty Sultan Haitham for the warm reception and generous hospitality he and the accompanying delegation received during the visit. His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq hosted a luncheon in honor of his brother, His Highness the President of the State and the accompanying delegation.

The meeting was attended by the delegation accompanying His Highness the President of the State during the visit, which included His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court; His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chief of the Presidential Court for Development Affairs and Martyrs’ Families; His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chief of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Advisor to the President of the State; and a number of ministers and senior officials.

From the Omani side, the meeting was attended by His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs; His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth; His Highness Sayyid Belarab bin Haitham Al Said; and a number of ministers and senior officials.
His Highness the President of the State later left the Sultanate of Oman, where he was seen off at the Royal Airport in Salalah by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, Sultan of Oman, and a number of ministers and senior officials.
