As military tensions ripple across the region, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry says it has moved into round the clock mode to keep track of Egyptian communities in the Gulf, Jordan and Iraq, and to help citizens who have been stranded during the latest disruption.
Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has been holding daily follow ups with the ministry’s consular sector, as well as Egypt’s ambassadors and consuls across the region, to check on the situation of Egyptians living there and to monitor evacuation arrangements for those stuck in several Arab countries, according to a ministry briefing carried by local media.
The minister directed Egypt’s diplomatic and consular missions to keep working around the clock to receive citizens’ inquiries, provide consular support and track community needs in real time, using direct hotlines to speed up responses. The ministry said this includes follow up on Egyptians who sustained injuries, with instructions to check their condition in detail and ensure they receive the necessary care and support.
Beyond resident communities, Abdelatty also told missions to maintain continuous monitoring of Egyptians stranded in a number of Arab states for transit or tourism, to help facilitate their return home. The ministry said it is in contact with relevant airlines to track evacuation operations and ensure appropriate services for those waiting to travel. Separately, the Foreign Ministry has publicized the creation of a task force within the consular department as part of its wider response to the current wave of regional instability.
In its statement, the ministry expressed appreciation to Saudi Arabia, Oman and Jordan for what it described as their efforts and the facilities they are providing to help evacuate stranded Egyptian citizens via their territories from neighboring countries. The ministry has repeatedly framed the approach as practical and continuous, built on direct lines with missions and daily coordination with partners to keep citizens informed and supported as circumstances evolve.
