President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said Egypt has continued to implement its ambitious economic reform program despite regional and international crises, underscoring the country’s commitment to stability, growth, and investor confidence. El-Sisi made the remarks during a special dialogue session at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Wednesday, attended by heads of state and senior international officials, including Libyan Presidential Council President Mohamed Menfi and Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.
El-Sisi noted that Egypt adopted a comprehensive package of measures aimed to control the country’s fiscal and monetary policies, restore investor confidence, develop the legislative environment governing investment, and provide attractive incentives for investors. The president said Egypt has given special priority to strengthening the role of the private sector as an indispensable partner in economic growth and development. As part of this approach, the state set caps on government investment and launched a structured plan for the state’s gradual exit from certain economic activities, allowing greater space for private-sector participation.
“These efforts have resulted in a noticeable improvement in economic performance indicators, higher growth rates, and increased private investment inflows,” El-Sisi said. He added that Egypt’s reform trajectory has received broad praise from international financial institutions, particularly the International Monetary Fund, as well as upgrades from global credit rating agencies. El-Sisi reaffirmed that Egypt will continue its reform path, including the full implementation of the state ownership policy document, which defines the framework governing state-owned enterprises.
This framework also includes advancing the government’s asset offering program to further boost private-sector participation and accelerate economic growth. El-Sisi arrived in Davos yesterday to participate in the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting 2026, which is being held from January 19 to 23, under the theme “A Spirit of Dialogue.” The forum’s agenda includes a series of events bringing together world leaders, heads of international and regional organizations, and representatives of major private-sector institutions.
Discussions focus on strengthening international cooperation, supporting global prosperity pathways, expanding the use of technology and innovation as drivers of growth, and investing in human capital. On the sidelines of the forum, El-Sisi is scheduled to meet US President Donald Trump to discuss the latest regional and international developments of mutual interest. The two leaders are expected to explore ways to enhance cooperation and coordination between Egypt and the US, in a manner that serves the interests of both countries and supports regional and international stability.
