The Ministry of Religious Endowments (Awqaf) continued its efforts to renovate houses of worship by inaugurating 21 mosques Friday. The openings include one new construction, 15 renovated and rebuilt mosques, and five that underwent maintenance and upgrades.
Since July 1, 2025, the ministry has inaugurated a total of 434 mosques. Since July 2014, the total number of mosques renovated, restored, or maintained has reached 13,923, at a total cost of approximately LE 24.66 billion. The latest inaugurations span several governorates:
Sohag: Sheikh Salem Khubza Mosque in Al-Salamoun village was rebuilt. Luxor: Al-Hasanat Mosque in Komir and Sayed Youssef Mosque in Al-Gharbi Qamoula. Qena: Nag’a Ghallab, Al-Khatib, Al-Abed, and Al-Fakhrani mosques.
Sharqia: Al-Kabir Mosque in Ezbet Atwa and the newly constructed Al-Sahaba Mosque in Zagazig. Beheira: Al-Taqwa, Al-Sha’ira Al-Sughra, and Al-Ikhlas mosques. Beni Suef: Al-Tahrir Mosque in Al-Riyad. Matrouh: Sayed Darwish and the Grand Mosque in Village 29.
Fayoum: Abu Salman, Abdel Qawi Maabad, and Al Ahmed mosques. Assiut: Al-Anwar Mosque in Deir El-Ganadla. Qalyubia: Al-Huda Mosque in Sahel Dagwa. Aswan: Sheikh Issa Mosque in Nag’a al-Jazira. These efforts reflect the ministry’s commitment to providing modern, suitable spiritual environments for worshippers across Egypt.
