The Cabinet Media Center published an infographic on its social media platforms Monday highlighting Cairo’s ranking as the most attractive African city for 2025, according to a report by the magazine Jeune Afrique. The ranking comes amid tangible transformations in Cairo, including urban development, modernization of transportation networks and infrastructure enhancements.

These efforts have solidified the city’s position as a leading urban model on the continent and contributed to an attractive investment environment, boosting Cairo’s competitiveness as a premier international destination. The infographic explained that the ranking is based on an analysis of foreign direct investment and field surveys of residents in 41 African cities regarding quality of life and infrastructure standards.

According to the report, Cairo climbed seven places in the ranking of the most attractive African capitals and cities, securing 1st place in 2025, up from 8th place in 2024. The infographic noted that Cairo is the most open city to foreign direct investment on the continent, having attracted approximately $11.3 billion between 2019 and 2023.

It also highlighted Cairo’s position as one of the region’s largest markets and an ideal export hub, noting that low labor costs make it a prime target for companies seeking expansion. The report further pointed to additional factors giving Cairo a competitive advantage, including the government’s construction of new cities to accommodate population growth. This includes the New Administrative Capital, which has attracted investments of approximately $60 billion.
