Over 92% of Foreign Nationals Passed Norwegian Citizenship Test in 2024

More than 92 per cent of Norwegian citizenship test participants completed the test successfully in 2024 plus a total of 5,116 foreign residents took the Norwegian citizenship test in 2024 and also during the same year, Norway granted citizenship to 27,276 foreign residents.

The Norwegian authorities have disclosed that the majority of foreign nationals who took the citizenship test last year passed it as in 2024, a total of 5,116 participants took the citizenship test to obtain Norway’s passport, with 92,5 per cent passing it successfully, Schengen.

In order to be eligible to apply for Norwegian citizenship, foreign nationals must pass the citizenship test or the social studies test in the Norwegian language.

The high success rate recorded last year suggests that those residing in Norway who want to obtain the country’s passport are taking the requirements seriously and have learned the importance of participating in society.

Expressing gratitude for the results, Norway’s Minister of Employment and Inclusion, Tonje Brenna, said that in order to be able to succeed in Norway, it is essential that foreign nationals have a good knowledge of Norwegian society.

The same stressed that it is important for everyone to participate in society equally as everyone else.
