Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty Saturday said that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi receive and invitation from US President Donald Trump to join the “Gaza Board of Peace.” “Egypt is reviewing all documents it has received in this regard,” Abdelatty told MENA during a press conference with Bosnian Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković.
The establishment of the Gaza board aligns with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803 (2025), which endorsed President Trump’s Comprehensive Plan and welcomed the establishment of the Board of Peace under Trump, with the membership of 25 of heads of state, including Egypt, the foreign minister said.
He added that president Sisi had published a post commending the efforts of Trump, stressing that Egypt highly appreciates Trump’s role in promoting security and peace in the Middle East. Egypt highly values this direct engagement, as without active involvement in the Palestinian crisis and the implementation of the second phase of the plan, it would be difficult for the parties to fulfill their obligations, particularly in light of violations of UN resolutions, Abdelatty said.
He underscored the importance of Trump’s continued engagement in implementing the 20-point roadmap for lasting peace and the relevant UN Security Council resolution, describing this as the primary guarantee for fulfilling obligations and ensuring the direct commitment of both parties. This includes Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza, early recovery and reconstruction efforts, as well as advancing the formation of the Palestinian technocratic committee, comprising 15 members as announced, which is expected to assume responsibility for managing daily affairs in the near future.
