Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty received Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi in a Monday meeting to coordinate joint state efforts aimed at attracting foreign investments and expanding regional energy cooperation.

The ministers discussed marketing the oil and gas investment opportunities available in Egypt, highlighting the “Egypt Upstream Gateway” digital platform as a primary tool to showcase exploration and production projects to international corporations.

The move aligns with state plans to maximize natural resource utilization and boost foreign direct investment inflows. Abdelatty stressed the importance of strengthening ties with regional and international energy partners to consolidate Egypt’s position as a regional energy trading hub.

He highlighted the country’s strategic geographic location and infrastructure readiness, noting that Cairo aims to leverage modern technology and exchange extraction expertise with fellow producing nations. Badawi reviewed progress on regional energy projects, including ongoing coordination with Cyprus to connect Cypriot gas fields to Egyptian infrastructure.

He noted that the Idku and Damietta liquefaction plants serve as critical strategic assets connecting East Mediterranean gas producers with European markets. The two ministries agreed to maintain tight integration to promote major national energy projects and enhance market competitiveness.
