President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s support for the security and stability of the UAE during a brief visit to the UAE on Thursday, where he met Emirati President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During the meeting, El-Sisi stressed Egypt’s solidarity with the UAE amid the current regional circumstances and its categorical rejection of Iranian attacks on its sovereignty, according to a statement by the Egyptian Presidency. “What affects the UAE affects Egypt,” El-Sisi said.
He stressed that the Iranian attacks on the UAE constitute a flagrant violation of the principles of international law and the UN Charter, and represent a dangerous escalation threatening the security and stability of the region and the world. In light of the current regional situation, El-Sisi called for intensified efforts to resolve the crisis through dialogue and diplomatic means, the statement said.
For his part, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed expressed appreciation for El-Sisi and underscored the UAE’s keenness to continue close coordination with Egypt. Moreover, the two leaders discussed ways to advance bilateral relations across various fields, particularly trade and investment.
They also discussed strengthening consultation on regional crises to preserve the unity and safety of states and the interests of their peoples. A bilateral working lunch was held in honour of El-Sisi, during which Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed welcomed El-Sisi’s visit to his second home, praising the close fraternal ties between the two countries, the statement read.
El-Sisi, in turn, expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality, and praised the historic fraternal bonds between the two countries and their peoples. At the conclusion of the talks, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed accompanied President El-Sisi to Abu Dhabi International Airport for his departure, a few hours after having received him upon arrival.
