Cairo: SiltaNews – News Desk
The President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, is currently on an official visit to Cairo, where he met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi at Al-Ittihadiya Palace. The visit included a formal reception ceremony, followed by a bilateral meeting and an expanded round of talks between the delegations of both countries. During the discussions, both leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening political, economic, and trade relations between Finland and Egypt, as well as consulting on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
President Stubb also attended the Egypt–Finland Business Forum held in Cairo at the headquarters of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI). The forum brought together senior ministers, officials, and business representatives from both nations, with the aim of expanding economic cooperation and encouraging Finnish investment in Egypt. In his remarks, Stubb described Egypt as a very important and essential partner for Finland, highlighting the country’s strategic location, young population, and recent infrastructure development. He was accompanied by a high-level Finnish business delegation to explore opportunities in sectors such as digital transformation, green technology, healthcare, telecommunications, education, clean energy, and manufacturing.
The visit is being viewed as a significant step in advancing bilateral relations between the two countries. Egyptian officials, including Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, invited Finnish companies to invest in Egypt, particularly in areas like green hydrogen, water management, waste-to-energy, and advanced communications technology. Both sides expressed optimism that the visit and the business forum would open new avenues for trade, investment, and long-term strategic cooperation between Cairo and Helsinki.
