Myanmar’s Acting President Min Aung Hlaing met with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin Palace, mapping out new avenues of cooperation. This is reported by the official website of the Russian President. President Putin welcomed the visiting leader, noting that bilateral ties have been consistently expanding since diplomatic relations were established over 70 years ago. “During your visit in March, we signed a package of documents, and our two governments are hard at work to implement our agreements. Today, we have an opportunity to compare notes and to review our progress in all these spheres.”
The Acting President, in turn, emphasised Myanmar’s intention to strengthen cooperation by expanding its consular presence in Russia. “The Embassy of Myanmar has been built in Moscow to promote closer relations between our countries. We have also opened consulates general in St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk. I would like to inform you about our plans to open a consulate general of Myanmar in Vladivostok in the near future.”
Talks covered a wide spectrum of issues, including peaceful nuclear energy, investment, agriculture, education, healthcare, and pharmaceutical production. Both leaders also stressed the potential for joint projects aimed at advancing science, technology, and sustainable growth. The meeting was attended by senior Russian officials, including aides to the President, government ministers, and the Governor of the Central Bank.
