Vietnam does produce a large volume of seafood, especially crustacean, but with a growing economy and a strong tourist market it also has need to import some high quality seafood for this expanding market.

This is borne out by the fact that according to NSC’s consumer research, 84 per cent of Vietnamese shoppers consider the country of origin a critical factor when purchasing seafood like salmon which highlights the success of NSC’s efforts to introduce responsibly sourced Norwegian seafood to Vietnam.

As one of the NSC’s critical Southeast Asian markets, Vietnam is home to a growing consumer base that values high-quality, sustainably sourced seafood. NSC’s approach to this growing market has focused on fostering long-term partnerships with local players, emphasizing mutual growth through knowledge exchange, skill enhancement, and elevated industry standards.

The Norwegian Salmon Academy which opened first in Hanoi confirms the NSC commitment to developing local culinary talent and offers specialized training for chefs, culinary professionals, and retail staff, equipping them with skills to handle, prepare, and sell Norwegian salmon.
