Africa is recognized as the birthplace of humanity. The earliest known presence of people on the continent is documented through archaeological and genetic evidence that confirms Africa as the origin point of all modern humans. Fossil records and DNA studies show that the first communities identified as Homo sapiens lived in East Africa. Discoveries in Ethiopia and Morocco provide clear proof that people were established on African soil long before they spread elsewhere.

From Africa, human groups began to move across the world. Around 60,000 to 70,000 years ago, communities migrated into Asia, Europe, and later the Americas. Within Africa itself, significant cultural developments shaped the continent’s identity. The Bantu migrations, beginning around 3000 BCE, spread languages, farming practices, and ironworking across sub-Saharan Africa. Oral traditions preserved histories and identities, ensuring continuity across generations.
