President Abdel Fattah El Sisi witnessed on Monday, December 1, 2025, the opening of the fourth edition of the International Defense Industries Exhibition “EDEX 2025,” held at Egypt International Exhibition Center, in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production Abdel Mageed Saqr, as well as several ministers and senior state officials.

The exhibition features pavilions from 25 countries and welcomes delegations from over 100 countries, in addition to approximately 45,000 specialized experts. This international participation reflects global confidence in Egypt’s organizational capabilities, its regional leadership, and its role in attracting defense and tourism investments. The events of the fourth edition of the International Defense Industries Exhibition “EDEX 2025” began with a musical performance titled “ʿAla Ṭūl Mitgamaʿīn” (“Always United”), featuring a group of young singers.

After that, a documentary film was shown about the K9A1EGY howitzer, one of the most powerful self-propelled artillery systems in the world (of South Korean origin), which provides armies with massive firepower even under the most difficult battlefield conditions. The documentary noted that Egypt was keen to contract for the purchase of this advanced system in February 2022, with the aim of enhancing the capabilities of the Armed Forces.

The film explained that the goal was not merely to purchase the system, but to build a national capability and industry able to produce its own modern system domestically. A joint-manufacturing plan was established so that expertise would be transferred to Egyptian factories, beginning with a production line operated by Egyptian engineers and technicians.

The film affirmed that Egypt proceeded confidently to manufacture the K9A1EGY howitzer with its range exceeding 40 km and its ability to fire multiple shells within seconds, adding precise and powerful fire capabilities – enabling Egypt to be capable, prepared, and strong in the face of all challenges, and to secure its own safety with its own hands.

Afterwards, the president watched a documentary on the three previous editions of EDEX in 2018, 2021 and 2023, which they were highly acclaimed by all specialized international bodies.Minister of Defense Abdel Mageed Saqr said the EDEX 2025 has become a leading global platform for countries and major companies to display advanced armament systems and defense technologies.Following the defense minister’s speech, President Sisi inspected the exhibition’s pavilions.
