Klaudia Zwolińska made history on Thursday as the first Polish woman to win the C-1 title at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships, in Penrith, southeastern Australia.
The 26-year-old dominated the women’s C-1 final, a kneeling canoe event using a single-bladed paddle, finishing 4.39 seconds ahead of silver medalist Alsu Minazova from Russia, despite C-1 not being her primary discipline.
Zwolińska took silver in Paris last year in her main discipline of K-1, a seated kayak event with a double-bladed paddle. She now aims for K-1 gold at the final on Friday.
