Irrigation Ministry Wins Award for Best Arab Infrastructure Development Project

Egypt’s Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation has earned a major regional distinction, winning the Best Arab Infrastructure Development Project award for its South Valley Development Project at the fourth round of the Arab Government Excellence Award for 2025. This came during the fourth annual Arab Government Excellence Awards ceremony, held in 2025, organized by the League of Arab States in cooperation with the United Arab Emirates.

The event was attended by Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Government Excellence Award Mr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, and a large number of ministers, governors, and diplomats.

Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sweilem, extended his sincere congratulations to all ministry employees on winning this prestigious award, which affirms the ministry’s distinguished institutional and technical performance at the Arab level. The award also highlights the efforts of the ministry and the Egyptian state in implementing successful major national water projects, and Egypt’s leading role in executing mega-projects according to the highest standards of quality and sustainability.
