Iran has reached full self-sufficiency in the production of elastomeric insulation materials, marking a major step in the country’s drive to reduce dependency on imports and enhance domestic technological capacity. This is reported by IRNA, a partner of TV BRICS.

Local production relies entirely on indigenous formulations and advanced technologies, ensuring that national demand for these strategic materials is fully met. The enterprises produce a wide range of thermal, acoustic, and moisture-resistant elastomeric insulations, essential for both construction and industrial applications.

According to authorities, by using locally sourced raw materials and drawing on expertise from leading Iranian universities, the initiative has strengthened domestic supply chains and supported national manufacturing. The local enterprises’ product portfolio includes more than 8,000 types of insulation and vibration-control systems, enabling it to meet the diverse needs of construction and industry sectors.

Elastomeric insulation – used for thermal, acoustic, and cooling purposes – is valued for its high flexibility, resistance to moisture and chemicals, and long lifespan, the source claimed. Compared to traditional materials such as mineral wool, fibreglass, or polyurethane, it offers superior energy efficiency and ease of installation.
