Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty met Tuesday with a European delegation headed by Special Envoy for the Middle East Peace Process Christophe Bigot to discuss developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and ongoing international efforts to support a comprehensive settlement for the Palestinian problem.

Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s core positions on the crisis, emphasizing commitment to implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2803 to ensure a sustained ceasefire, unhindered flow of humanitarian aid, and preparation for deploying a temporary international stabilization force.

The minister stressed the importance of progressing with the formation of the Palestinian technocrats’ committee as a step toward restoring Palestinian Authority control over the Gaza Strip, reiterating Egypt’s firm rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians or alter the enclave’s geographic or demographic status. Abdelatty also discussed training Palestinian police forces in Egypt, underlining the need for joint efforts to increase the daily volume of humanitarian aid entering Gaza.

He briefed the EU envoy on the requirements of the second phase of the plan out forward by US President Donald Trump, highlighting Egypt’s commitment to continued coordination with regional and international partners to support the Palestinian people in securing their legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent state along the June 4, 1967 lines.

Both sides agreed on the importance of ongoing consultations to ensure coordinated positions and support the political track amid the sensitive circumstances facing the Palestinian cause.
