Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk received a high-level delegation of Chinese experts to review progress on an ongoing project to establish a new agricultural pesticide manufacturing plant in Egypt. The meeting, attended by Dr. Hala Abu Yousef, Head of the Agricultural Pesticides Committee, focused on the project’s development within the framework of Egyptian-Chinese cooperation.
Participants reviewed implementation plans for the project, which is expected to significantly enhance Egypt’s agricultural sector. The plant will be constructed using advanced Chinese technology, facilitating the transfer of modern pesticide manufacturing techniques to Egypt through joint Egyptian-Chinese investments involving Egyptian investors.
Farouk underscored the importance of the project in localizing the agricultural pesticide industry, transferring advanced technology, and strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt’s Vision 2030. He noted that the initiative would support the national economy and ensure the availability of safe and effective pesticides that meet international standards.
The minister also highlighted the Egyptian government’s efforts, in line with directives from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, to encourage investment and improve the overall investment climate. He stressed that Egypt’s agricultural sector offers substantial investment opportunities and that the state is committed to expanding private sector participation to achieve sustainable agricultural development.
