This marks a significant milestone in the company’s plan to build a Nordic-wide network of hydrogen refueling stations for heavy-duty vehicles. The grant was awarded by Norwegian funding agency Enova to support the roll out of a four-station corridor between Trondheim, the country’s third largest city, and the capital, Oslo.

“This is yet another fantastic accomplishment by the dedicated Team Vireon. It proves that our projects meet the high standards required by the grant authorities. None of this would be possible without the impressive work of the entire Vireon team,” said Per Øyvind Voie, CEO of Vireon.

All stations will be built to serve primarily heavy-duty vehicles and will offer green hydrogen at both 350 and 700 bar. To secure redundancy, the corridor will offer truck drivers the option of two different routes between the two cities.

The grant also provides support for Vireon to buy a fleet of hydrogen transport containers to distribute hydrogen from production sites to the refueling stations.
