Swedish importer Ewerman, a subsidiary of Helsingborg-based Company Green food, has signed a deal to supply fruit and vegetables to Norwegian fresh produce distributor Engrosfrukt.

Under the five-year agreement, Ewerman will begin deliveries from 1 January 2025 and is expected to grow that business to a value of almost SKr200mn (€17.3mn) per year.

Green food, one of Northern Europe’s largest players in sustainable and healthy food, has grown significantly in recent years and said it continued to see increased consumer demand for fruits and vegetables as part of a nutritious and balanced diet.

For Green food, the agreement with Engrosfrukt marks the first time it has established its fruit and vegetable offer in Norway.

Deliveries will be managed from the group’s new state-of-the-art facility in Helsingborg, which also houses one of Sweden’s most advanced banana ripening facilities, maturing over 30,000 banana boxes every week.

“It is the breadth of our offering, our efficient value chain, and our strong position in sustainability that made Engrosfrukt choose us as their supplier,” commented Ted Stenshed, CEO of Green food Fresh Produce, which includes Ewerman.

“With our new modern and environmentally efficient facility, we have also significantly strengthened our competitiveness.”

Engrosfrukt itself has a strong market presence and an extensive distribution network that covers all of Norway.

“A broad range of high-quality green products is a critical branding issue for our foodservice customers,” said Nils Sund, the company’s CEO. “Through the collaboration with Green food, we can enhance our customer offering and deliver a wider and better range to our clients in the Norwegian market.”
