Ambassador Mohamed el-Shenawy, the presidential spokesperson, said President el-Sisi received a briefing from Maj. Gen. Walid Aref regarding the construction work. The project is part of a national plan by the Ministry of Religious Endowments to renovate, maintain, and furnish mosques across the country.

The spokesperson added that the project follows presidential directives to modernize Egypt’s religious infrastructure to ensure mosques can fulfill their mission of promoting moral values and national stability. Following the prayer, el-Azhari delivered a sermon commemorating Isra and Mi’raj. He discussed the lessons of the Prophet’s Night Journey and Ascension, extending congratulations to the president, the Egyptian people, and the wider Islamic world.
