Egypt Pursues new Investments in Energy, Other key Sectors in Burkina Faso

Egypt and Burkina Faso have discussed expanding bilateral cooperation and investment opportunities in various fields, including energy, infrastructure and health. Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty held a phone call with his Burkinabe counterpart, Karamoko Traore, on Thursday, to discuss enhancing bilateral relations and exchange views on regional issues. A key highlight of the discussion was opening new horizons for Egyptian companies to invest in energy, infrastructure, health, mining, and construction sectors in Burkina Faso.

The Egyptian minister emphasized the importance of increasing trade with Burkina Faso and fostering direct engagement between business communities. Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s full support for Burkina Faso’s efforts in combating terrorism and promoting stability. He noted ongoing security and military cooperation and capacity-building programs implemented by Egyptian institutions to support Burkinabe personnel.

Abdelatty also praised the role of Al-Azhar in promoting values of tolerance and religious discourse, as well as strengthening cultural and religious ties, particularly through Al-Azhar’s missions and various training programs for Burkinabe imams and preachers. Both ministers stressed the continuation of cooperation between the two countries in various fields on bilateral and multilateral levels to advance stability, security, and development in Burkina Faso and across Africa.
