Alaa Farouk, the minister of agriculture and land reclamation, announced a significant leap in Egyptian agricultural exports, confirming the country’s success in opening 25 new international markets. Farouk said the achievement reflects growing global confidence in Egyptian produce and its competitiveness, which has allowed it to penetrate complex markets and meet stringent technical requirements.

As part of efforts to strengthen oversight and ensure quality, Farouk revealed that the digital coding system achieved unprecedented results this year. The system covers approximately 6,450 farms and export stations, representing a total cultivated area of 695,000 feddans. The system serves as the cornerstone for tracking products and ensuring compliance with international standards, enhancing the reputation of Egyptian crops abroad.

Farouk explained that Egypt’s export map has expanded remarkably, with more than 405 agricultural commodities exported to 167 countries. He attributed the growth to plans for horizontal agricultural land expansion and improvements in packaging, transportation, and shipping. The figures confirm that Egypt’s agricultural sector is no longer merely a source of domestic food production. It has transformed into a major source of foreign currency and a competitive economic force across Africa, Europe, and Asia.
