Brazil Reports Stable Oil And Gas Output in January 2026

In January 2026, Brazil produced 5.168 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) of oil and natural gas. The figures were released by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels, according to Safras, a partner of TV BRICS.

Oil output reached 3.953 million barrels per day (bbl/d), showing a 14.6% increase year-on-year. Natural gas production totalled 193.16 million cubic metres per day (m³/d), up 20.2% compared with January 2025.

Pre-salt deposits continued to play a leading role in the country’s energy sector. Total oil and gas production from pre-salt areas amounted to 4.129 million boe/d, accounting for 79.9% of Brazil’s overall output. It reflected a 19% rise compared with the same period last year. Production from 177 wells delivered 3.167 million bbl/d of oil and 152.98 million m³/d of natural gas.

Natural gas utilisation stood at 97.1% in January. A total of 61.92 million m³/d was supplied to the market, while flaring reached 5.68 million m³/d. Offshore fields accounted for 97.9% of oil production and 87% of gas output during the reporting period. Output originated from 6,080 wells, including 563 offshore and 5,517 onshore.
