Almaty to Host World Chess Championship for Children

From 19 to 30 September, Almaty will host the World Chess Championship for сhildren in the U8, U10 and U12 age categories. This is reported by Kazinform, a partner of TV BRICS. More than 800 young chess players from 84 countries have registered to participate in the tournament. Among the largest delegations are India (28 players) and China (25). Kazakhstan, as the host country, will be represented by over 200 participants.

The games will be held at the Baluan Sholaq Arena, which previously hosted the World Rapid and Blitz Championships in 2022 and the Asian Youth Championship in 2024. The tournament programme includes 11 rounds. A day of rest is planned for 25 September with an excursion programme and a blitz tournament for children from orphanages. The closing ceremony will take place on 30 September at 17:00.
