Nordic Prime Ministers Meet in Finland for Summer Meeting

The 8 Nordic Head of States are in Finland to discuss Nordic cooperation around competitiveness and societal security.

The meeting is co-hosted by Finland and Åland, the Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers is in attendance as well as representatives from the Nordic Business Community and the German Federal Chancellor.

The Nordic Heads of State have published two joint statements: The Nordics: United and Strong with enhanced crisis preparedness and laying the foundation for future Nordic advancements with quantum technologies.

Political leaders in attendance are Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and Head of Government of Åland Katrin Sjögren, Kristrún Frostadóttir of Iceland, Jonas Gahr Støre of Norway, Ulf Kristersson of Sweden, Mette Frederiksen of Denmark, Aksel Vilhelmson Johannesen of the Faroe Islands and Jens-Frederik Nielsen of Greenland. Karen Ellemann, Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers, is also present and Federal Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz will be joining the discussions.

The eight Nordic heads of state have gathered in Finland for a high-level meeting focused on strengthening regional cooperation in competitiveness and societal security. The event, co-hosted by Finland and Åland, brings together key political figures, business leaders, and representatives from the Nordic Council of Ministers.

Among the attendees are Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, Åland’s Head of Government Katrin Sjögren, Iceland’s Kristrún Frostadóttir, Norway’s Jonas Gahr Støre, Sweden’s Ulf Kristersson, Denmark’s Mette Frederiksen, Aksel Vilhelmson Johannesen of the Faroe Islands, and Jens-Frederik Nielsen of Greenland. Karen Ellemann, Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers, is also present, alongside Germany’s Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
